I just joined a gym, and i am committed to looking great in a 2-piece this summer. Can anyone recommend a sample diet (i'm a 27yr. female 5'1" 130lbs.) to use in addition to my new exercise routine? I want to lose around 15-20 lbs. SAFELY and get toned up! Thanks and best of luck to everyone out there getting in shape!

I'm looking for something SAFE, first of all. Not the "3 days lose 10 lbs." or "Eat beets & Grapefruit" diets. I'm looking for breakfast, lunch & dinner kind of thing. Thanks for helping! ( MissCandi@surfside.net )

You could try eating things high in protein and low in fat. I usually eat 4-6 egg whites a day. I have soup for lunch. One power bar per day. A protein shake. For breakfast I ususally have oatmeal or regular cereal. It seems like I eat a lot, but it is mostly really low in fat and high in protein. I have lost 10 pounds in three weeks. It a little more than recommended, but my energy level is higher and I am not starving myself. Good luck on your goals.

Here is a good basic diet you can follow:
Meal #1
1 whole egg + 3 egg whites or 1 scoop protein powder
1/2-cup oatmeal (before cooking)

Meal #2
Protein Drink and 12-oz water (150-250 calories) OR
1 cup cottage cheese with 1/2 cup pineapple (packed in own juice no sugar)

Meal #3
5-6 oz. chicken (before cooking) or can of Tuna (lemon & pepper only no mayo!)
4 oz. potato or 1/2 cup cooked brown rice
1 cup vegetables (broccoli, etc.) or Salad with 2 TBS. Low Cal Dressing
OR
6 oz chicken or turkey breast or 1 cup cottage cheese
1 apple

Meal #4
Protein Drink (your choice) & 12-oz water

Meal #5
6 oz. chicken, turkey, fish or 93% lean beef or once weekly sirloin steak
1-2 cups vegetables or Large Salad with Low Cal Dressing (no sugars)
2 tsp Flax Oil or Flax Oil Tabs

OR repeat any meals from above.
If hungry after nine p.m. the only choice is a scoop of whey protein or other protein source like a hard boiled egg.

celery, peppers, cucumbers, tomato and lemon egg whites are free foods.(I posted a Master food list somewhere on this site, search for it) Non sodium spices only. No ketchup or sauces with sugar in them.

CHEAT is ONE MEAL a week for now. Try to go 7 days before your first cheat. If this isn't enough food increase portions.

Hello...even though I joined this site in Jan, I am seriously doing something about my weight now and eating better. My husband and I both joined a 24 hour gym which is too awesome...and I have started to eat better and to track what I do eat here on the diet tracker....really helps out. but I do have a question....what I make me to eat should I automatcally make the same for my husband??? Like tonight I had my spinach salad with cottage cheese, cucumbers, tomatoes, a little little cheese and I grilled/braised one pork chop to go with it....I made them something different, He is not a big salad eater..but still made me feel bad that I was trying to do better for myself, and not eat what I made the rest of my family. He wants to lose weight too, but doesn't seem to be as committed as I am right now. What should I do, make him what I eat? Help! Please LOL
