I have been weight lifting for 4 weeks now. I go as heavy as I can with proper form.
I almost started freaking out about this but there is a happy ending.
I measured my butt before I started. 2 Weeks later I measured it again eeek I put a 1/2 inch on. How the heck did I do that without any change in scale weight?
Happy ending measured my butt again lost that 1/2 inch plus another inch. I also lost 4 pounds of scale weight.
Another thing I noticed, we have 20lb barbells around the house. I could barely curl 1 rep. Yesterday I picked it up and curled out 8 reps to failure.

Hell, I brag all the time. I came a long way and am extremely proud of myself. For the weight issue. You probably lost fat and gained muscle. Muscle is more dense and weighs less so it is easy to see weight gain or stay there but actually getting smalle. Good for you with your strength, it is a great feeling.

When you first start weight training, your muscles and body are completely confused.... Therefore they'll keep more water (blood and oxygen) in the newly working muscles.

It's quite normal, don't worry about it.

Also muscles weight a lot more than fat so you'll be heavier but a lot leaner.

Great job of yours, keep on going!!

Thanks for the encouragement.

Silly me I meant dmbl not brbl. That would mean I was really weak. Thanks for saving me the embarrassment. LOL

I consider my upper body pretty weak and I have been impressed with the strength I have gained in such a short time. I wanted to know if it was good or if I should change the way I worked out. The competitiveness coming out in me. :)
I work out on machines right now until I muster the courage to go play with the big boys. :)
Did not mean to brag but if this is good then I am bragging, bragging bragging! LOL :)

Nina, thanks for answering my question before I asked. Great minds think alike. Before I was losing about 2 lbs a week, these past 4 weeks it only averaged to be about 1 lb a week. It better be muscle!!!!
