it seems like there aren't any women trying to make muscle gains. most of them are just trying to "tone up". are there any girls around 16 trying to build muscle especially in the upper body? i kinda need help from anyone who actually knows what they're talking about because i don't wanna gain weight/fat for nothing. thanx!

What excactly is toning? Huh? It's just another word for putting on lean muscle mass.....
Hmmm and you want somebody "who actually knows what they're talking about because i don't wanna gain weight/fat for nothing"?!!! Well you'll find lots of great girls in here knowing lots of things BUT the very best thing you can do is to get a trainer near you (at you gym?!!) and more important, LISTEN TO YOUR BODY, and you'll get the very best gains.
Finally, please fill in your profile.
Good luck!

Ask any questions and you shall receive the best information. Experience. Yes women here want muscle and fat loss. Muscle to boost our metabolisms and fat loss to look our personal best. At 16 many women do not know about nutrition, weight lifting and cardio. Also it is not really high on their priorities because usually it is not an issue until later.
See you around and remember later on you will be miles ahead of the pack.

I'm training in hopes of competing in fitness competition next year. I love my muscles, I love the fact that I can throw my best (guy) friend over my shoulder and carry him around! Being a strong woman is fantastic, go for it if that's what you want! Also, you're 16 and your metabolism hasn't hit the slump most hit around 19 or 20. Start now if you're going to, but get proper training and information. Finally, if you put on muscle, chances are you'll put on weight. It's better to be a strong and health 130lbs than a weak and tired 110 lbs!

I'm one of those girls that wanted more muscle and I got it. I have only been working out for a year and a half, but in that time I went from a skinny 108 to a more muscular 120. Yes, all that 12 lbs. is muscle. I got it from following a 5-day/ one body part a day routine. My upper body was pretty weak. I started just benching a 45lb bar. Now I can bench press my own weight. It just takes time, dedication and discipline. If you want it bad enough it'll happen. Most women don't stick to it. Laziness sets in and the trips to the gym get fewer and fewer. Also, don't expect overnight results. The best muscle is the kind that is developed slowly and progressively. I still work out daily. I think I have hit my max growth, and am in the process of trying to overcome that, but my goal is also really just to maintain. Also remember to eat regularly throughout the day. Small, healthy meals. You're going to need the energy! Lots of luck. P.S Sorry I am not 16, I am 27, but I look like I am 16 to a lot of people.

Thanks for the compliment. It took some time, but I eventually got there. I'm too shy to post pictures right now, maybe later.
