I am new here and I am about 5'8", 168 lb., and wear a 10 or 12. I have always been a 5 or 6 and it is driving me crazy being this size (not to mention driving my husband crazy). I am 24-years and the mother of 2. My youngest child has just turned one and I am struggling to get this weight off. This is my fault because I have been very inconsistent with my diet and exercise, but I have been doing really well for about a month now, watching what I eat very closely and exercising five nights a week. I have a lot of general questions about how to tone up certain areas (back, thighs, butt, abs). Also, my arms are large and my shoulder are broad with muscle, but I want to have smaller arms and shoulders with definition. Any advice? Only two more things - I have started to develop cellulite in my legs and butt area, will the exercise take care of this or is it there to stay? And last, does anyone know of any cream that will take care of stretch marks? Thanks so much in advance for your time and advice.

HI!
First of all welcome.

Patience, consistency and knowledge will help you achieve your goals.

Clean up your diet and do not dip your calories too low. Look up calorie intake and that should help. I know that the diet can be hard at times. I am going through that now with life getting crazy.

Are you doing any weight training? This will help a lot. What are you doing for cardio? Find out your body fat % and focus on that more than the scale.

You cannot spot reduce. It is best to do an all over weight routine. Fat falls off in sheets. The first place it goes on is usually the last place it will disappear from.

Cellulite is fat. It will go away. This too takes time. Cardio, diet and weight training will help. Do not try to loose too fast or you will be unhappy with the loose skin. Loose it slowly so your body can adapt. Take nose jobs for an example. They reconstruct the area. The skin has to adjust to the new framework. This can take anywhere from 6 mos to a year. Same thing with wisdom teeth removal.

Stretch marks will remain but they will get lighter with time. The only way you can get rid of them is surgery. Even that is not a 100% guarantee.

There have been several posts on here take the time to read them. Valuable information is on this board about the concerns you have.

Good luck, ask us anything and train hard.

:) Melissa

Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but rather we have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.

Thanks Melissa!!! (o;

She is soooo right, now I just want to include that everything takes time..... It's not always easy to change habits (and get rid of the last stubborn fat!!) but with a little self will and lots of determination everybody can get there (of course we can!).

Just stay strong. Also stay with us and we'll try to help you all we can!
