I'm 5'6", now 236. Just finished my third week of FT's lose fat/body tone program. My diet according to FT should be 3000 cal a day which seems excessive. Overall, the amount I have eaten over the past 6 weeks has not changed. The problem is that I have gained 4 lb during the last 3 weeks. I do my strength training as scheduled and cardio 20-30 mins 3 x week. On the good side, am seeing definition in my legs, thighs and arms, as well as have seen a lift in my butt with it becoming more rounded. I realize it will take time for pounds to drop while strength training. Do I continue as I am and see what happens in another 3 weeks.......or should I make a good cut my calorie intake?

Absolutely continue. Throw away that scale. Best thing to do is to take measurements and look at your clothes, you will see the difference.

Forgot to put this in the last post! Give yourself at least 12 weeks to see good changes.

If you are seeing definition in places you say, you are probably gaining muscle, which is what this is all about. Muscle mass will help you burn fat even more. Stay with what you are doing. Muscle is much more dense than fat, and therefore weighs more. This is good.Burn the fat, replace it with healthy muscle tissue. Go by the fit of your clothes, and the mirror. Don't even get on the scale, if you do, make it the same exact time once per week, like on immediately rising, when all water weight is pretty well down and such. You are usually pretty depleted first thing in the morning.Keep up the great gains and work.

I hate scales...........
We are all so darn obsessed by it. Of course we don't want to be too heavy (especially not us ladies!!) BUT as we know, muscles are a lot heavier than fat AND of course we prefer muscles.........
Now look at the stats of all those good looking fitness girls in the magazines..... Comparing to their height they are definitely not light.... BUT do they look fat?!!!!!
Just keep on going strong Darlana, you'll be fine!!!

Just to let you know, in the first 5 weeks that I started training hard, I gained 6 pounds (!). I was not expecting to see the numbers go up, but now, 3 months and a bit into it, I'm down 4 pounds from the start point and all my clothes are too big. It takes a little while for your fat to start going, but the more muscles you have, the easier it'll go. Good luck!

Thanks to all of you for the encouragement to continue. And Effalunt, seems you have been where I am at the moment, and thats inspiration. Although I can see differences, as a good gauge of what's happening with my body, will get body measurements today and every 3-4 weeks from now.
Again, thanks!

Hey Darlana, Wanted to say welcome. Keep it up. I am about the same height as you. I started at 198 lbs. Eight months later I am down to 161.8. The fat loss is what I really concentrated on. So far it has been a whopping 16%. I have been doing the same routine as you are. With some variations in the cardio times. You are doing great. If you want to lower your calories by 250 daily and see what happens. See you around and keep going. It will come.
:) Melissa
-------------- Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but rather we have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit. - -- Aristotle
