i read in this guy muscle magazine that when u're cutting the best time to do cardio is in the morning before eating so u can burn fat. it also said that the 1st half of it should be high intensity to burn more calories then the 2nd half should be low intensity to burn the fat. is this true and does anyone have any other comments or thoughts? thanx!

Cardio first thing in the morning is a GREAT thing for fat loss.

This is what I do, and what I would recommend doing if you do weights the same time (which you SHOULD be doing for best fat loss & tone):

- eat lite yogurt after you get up
- head to the gym and go thru your weight lifting (30 mins)
- then hit the cardio (20 mins)

The yogurt is a lite protein/carb mix for energy during your work out. It's lite enough not to disrupt your digestion, but gives you the energy you want in the morning!! You should be tired and spent by the time you get to the cardio. You want energy in weight lifting, so do it first!

The cardio is only 20 minutes, but hard cardio. I do cardio like they recommend in Body For Life - or HIIT. Each minute is shown below with a number next to it for your own PERSONAL gague (1-10, 10 being highest) of how hard you're working.

1 - 5 11 - 6
2 - 5 12 - 7
3 - 6 13 - 8
4 - 7 14 - 9
5 - 8 15 - 6
6 - 9 16 - 7
7 - 6 17 - 8
8 - 7 18 - 9
9 - 8 19 - 10!!!
10 - 9 20 - 5 / cool down

So it's basically 4 gradually increasing hills of intensity that fall back down after levels 6-9, and the last "hill" you shock your body with a 10 and you're done! And boy do you feel great the rest of your day!!

Again, this is what I do, and I like it alot!!

HIIT is a great way to loose fat and get energy. About morning training personally I do 45 mins without eating anything at all (sometimes I do take a little bit of glutamine thou -especially if I haven't had dinner the night before) If I weight train I take a protein shake with water before.

Cardio training is like weight training, you need to vary to (not get bored!) and continue to get results.
Don't always do the same on the same machine, the same time, intensity etc

Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but rather we have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.
