All good hydrating cream and eat good food (try to do a search, we had several good posts about this).

No magical solutions there.........

no actually they show less with a tan, tanning is really good but you must keep up with the creams, diet and lots of water.

I had a midwife while i was pregent with my son. and she told me the best thing to prevent and get rid of stretch marks was vitaman E. Palmer cocoa butter works great also. But straight Vitaman E oil right after you get out of the shower even before you dry off is the best. Lowky

Yes Lowky, you are totally right on that! There was another post regarding the same thing and I had remembered putting that down on there. Thanks for adding it to this one!

Try vitamin E oil. After my pregnancy I used it for about 4 weeks and saw a significant difference.

Lots and lots of water. We must hydrate from within. Creams help to minimize but remember to keep well hydrated to keep elasticity.

I used vitamin E during preg. and got very little marks- only under bikini line -
Do you think it is okay to use vit. E 15 months later?

it is good to use Vitamin "E' anytime to remove unwanted scars or marks. It works really well.

I was always told that genetics were the reasons we got those stretch marks and that they were unavoidable... so I never used anything, but I did keep hydrated....

But I still neded up with a whole lot of em (baby was close to 9lbs)

I think I am going to try Vitamin E like you recommend Ravenbeauty - but would it still work after all this time?(my daughter is almost 2 now)

my kids are grown, the youngest is 10 now. Although i used cocoa butter during my pregnancies and exercised well i never really got stretch marks. it was after when i havd gained an excessive amount of weight and found out that I had hypothyrodism which i got the stretch marks from, years after having children. vitamin e works well and can be used anytime to reduce marks or scars for that matter. go for it! remember lots of water for the body too!

OOps - I meant that the stretch marks were unavoidable if you were genetically inclined to have them, EG: if a mom had them , it would be extremely likely that her daughter would get them too. Sorry for the confusion.

I will try the Vitamin E though. I'm already a water junkie so that at least that one's a breeze!

I saw great results after two weeks. I applied once in morning and once at night. Smells like vegetable oil but it works.

The type of treatment depends on the type of stretch mark you have. If the mark is still red there is a cream you can use. However if your marks are old (silvery white in color) you do have the option of lasar surgery. I would get an appointment with a dermatologist to discuss treatment options. There is a lot of information out on the net- just look up "stretch marks" in your search engine and you'll get a pretty good response.

i think stretch marks are something you can treat, but not fully get rid of, you have to keep puttin lotions and creams on then just like you would put on lotion everday...

Terri-
Sometimes companies put fillers in lotions. These fillers can be made of animal-by-products or man made substances. I work with a pure swiss company and many people come to me with senstive skin and allergic reactions. Most of the time it is something in the lotion.

Mary Kay sells a lotion called Visibly Fit. It reduces the appearance of cellulite and spider veins and my friend, who had a child 3 years ago, said her spider veins are gone. It's a little pricey ($22), but it's some really good stuff. You can find out a little more about it at www.marykay.com/saakhus. You have to use it everyday twice a day to see the results, and I haven't heard if they come back after not using it for a while. Just thought I'd share! :)

There are ways to get rid of, or at least hide, stretch marks. There are Doctors who are utilizing Laser Technology to get rid of stretch marks. This basically removes the top layer of the scared skin, to help reduce stretch marks. However, I'm sure you are all aware that all surgery has it's side effects, so be careful when choosing to take this step.

Besides lasers or plastic surgery, the only other way to "get rid" of stretch marks is to cover them with makeup. By mixing two shades of foundation, the closest shades to your skin color. You can get lotions to soften stretch marks, and make up to cover them, but unfortunately, they will do little more than that.

i'm 17 and i have stretch marks all over my stomache and right under my arms and shoulders. I really hate it, and i've tried creams and such, but i was wondering if exercise makes them worse or not? If anyone can tell me what works the best and the fastest i'd like to know.

Why do you want to get rid of them for the Marines?...I'm sure they will still let you in with stretchmarks. You sound as if you NEED to get rid of them or else death will come to you. Stretch marks take time to fade, but usually they don't go away altogether.

You can't get rid of stretch marks, they reflect the separation of collagen of the skin. I talked with a dermatologist and a plastic surgeon about mine and though they are developing many potential cosmetic solutions as we speak, they both agree that you cannot prevent them nor can you make them go away with creams and lotions.

So, you wait for them to fade and try a little self tanner, I guess.

dont get a tan!! if u get a tan they will become obvious because they do not tan like the unaffected skin. so they will be even more obvious.instead opt for a sunless tanner in a bottle, spray etc..
i heared that using bio oil is meant to be good. i hav been using it inconsistanly and hav not really seen any results

You could try a tinted moisturizer to cover them.
