Im new to ths and would like to know wat the terms mean and if i should do them straight away. MAXING OUT GOING TO FAILURE

No...not without help from someone who knows training and can spot you (help lift the weight if you can't so you don't hurt yourself).
Maxing out is one repetition of the maximum amount of weight that you can lift.
Going to failure is doing the maximum amount of reps before you can't lift anymore.

some call it 1RM..I used to max out years ago just to try those huge loads out and determine my targetted weight...the problem with 1RMs is that they can cause injury if done often and unprepared...

I dont think you want to do any of them. You should do a weight that you can do 10 reps easy. Then go to max once a month any more you can get hurt I know I got hut and now I train smart. I dont max out and give myself more rest. I do a light work out for about a month and do very high reps and go up in weight by 5 once a week for most body parts.Then its back to my regular work outs for about 6months. What you need to do is find out what works best for you and stick with it. Good luck.

Avoid injury and an interuption in your training by NOT maxing out.
Going to failure is important for growth but with good form and slower reps.
