Welcome to ft, Nicole! The program recommends the amount of calories you consume based on your fitness goals and exercise program selected. Since you have chosen to do some weight training, you will need the extra calories to fuel your workouts. But the important thing to keep track of are the other factors (protein, fat and carbs) along with calories. You'll need the right combination in order to lose weight. Also, a variance of +/- 10% is acceptable.

Good luck and keep us posted of your progress!

A have this advice to you, try simply to forget the calories and only think on WHAT you are eating.
Try eating 5 times daily, but make sure of eating small amounts of healthy food and a protein source in every little meal.
No saturated fat and no carbs late in the night.

You'll see, it's not that difficult and you'll be okey.

Good luck.
