I'm new to ft. I've been working out for several years fairly consistently. I lift 4 days a week and run 6 days a week. I was simply not motivited to get up and workout this morning. I decided that I needed a change. I saw an article in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that mentioned this site. I'm ready to try something different!

Welcome to ft! Have you already signed up for the mass program? It sounds like this is what you may need...

Good luck and don't hesitate to ask us anything!

Yes, I did. Since I skipped my usual morning routine, I'm going to get started (Yuck, legs on Monday!) over lunchtime. Besides changing up my lifting routine, I think I need to reevaluate my eating habits. I started checking out he nutritional section on this site which suggested that I need nearly 2800 cal/day. This seems a little high to me.

The nutrition guide is just that...a beginning point. The calories should get burned once you begin your weight lifting routine. However, if your goal is to lose weight, you may decrease by 250-500, then re-adjust as necessary. You're looking for that balance that will yield you results.

Glad you signed up!

Thanks. Just like most folks, I'm looking for the proverbial diet program that melts fat and adds muscle. Currently, I'm obssesed with uncovering my abs that are buried under an inch or two of fat! Of course, I want to add/retain the muscle mass that I do have. All of the fat that I carry is right around the middle. I need a fat distribution pill!

If you come across that pill...let me know and we can make billions!

Anyway, I've lost 35 pounds in 8 weeks by simply lowering my carb and saturated fat intake! While I'm your classic hardgainer, I've put on about 18 pounds of muscle by sticking with ft's mass programs! If I can do it, you can too! Just stick with it and work hard. I was at about 20% bodyfat over a year ago...but now, I'm down to 10%, with a goal of 7-8% so I can see more of my abs!

Height - 5'7"
Weight - 160
Since I'm on a progressive mass gain program, I try to keep my total caloric intake to about 3,500 per day:

Protein - 200g (24%)
Carbs - 560g (68%)
Fat - 72g (8%)

I usually fluctuate between 2,500-3,500 weekly to keep my body from adapting to my diet.
