My aim is to lose weight and tone my body, but my main concern is the womans troublesome area - the thighs. All my adult life I have had muscly thighs harbouring excess flab, chunky as I affectionately call them! After joining the site I was a little concerned to look at my exercise regime; only 1 out of the 4 days specified targets my legs, the rest consist of mainly back and arm excercises. I don't want to end up with big shoulders and no difference to my legs, Please help!

You will not end up with big shoulders. Please take a look at the women's forum. There will be lots of answers to your questions. To answer your question on leg routine, you should only work each muscle group once a week.

Welcome Swallow. Roni is right, you should only work out each muscle group once a week. #2, if you already have the muscle in your thighs, and they are proportionately bigger anyway, then you don't want to build to much more. You want to do the cardio, and nutrition plan to get rid of the fat, and concentrate on building the other proportions of muscle where you are lacking. If you keep reading, you can see that reducing your body fat, and increasing your lean body mass will do the trick for you. And don't concentrate so much on an area where you have it. Work on the others. Slowly, you can actually begin to change the natural body shape to which you were made. Once you lose the fat on your thighs, you will love to show them off. I am average in the thigh area, but if i had the potential of having muscular thighs, i would be proud to show them off. Good Luck... Keep us posted...

Hi Swallow,
I have been doing weights for 8 weeks, since Mar lost 28lbs. Used to be really bottom heavy. Went straight down with hips and thighs that flared out to you know where.
Judging by my coworkers compliments, "You look good and are well proportioned," the other one I cannot repeat.. hehehe What has happened is that I now have an hourglass shape.
I tried on a uniform I hadn't worn since Mar. The top is tighter across the back and the pants fell off.
I do a three day split. Chest, tri, and shoulders Back and Biceps Glutes, legs and calves
As soxythang said the cardio and nutrition plays a big role in losing the fat.
Try it for 8 weeks and I can attest that your results will be greater then you can imagine.
Hope this helps.
:) Melissa
