Hey All
I am new to ft. I perused many of the posts and the workout pages last night and I think that you guys gotta great thing going on here.
I played basketball in highschool and have since stopped now in my first year of college. I worked out all summer, as I've done every offseason, and progressed well in my muscle gains, but my size never really improved. I signed up for the 12 week program as I am looking to add anywheres from 15 to 20 pounds of lean muscle while maintaining my definition.
Is this within reach? How long can I expect to work for such gains? I am currently 6'1 200 lbs with a high matabolism (sp?).

Welcome to ft!

While on the 12 week mass program, you will gain some fat along with your lean muscle mass. This was you can pack on much more muscle. If you want to gain lean muscle mass and stay defined then try the progressive gains programs. It is very near impossible to gain 15-20 pounds of lean muscle mass in 12 weeks. Depending on your body expect upto 6-8 pounds of lean muscle mass if you are very successful. Putting on muscle takes time and dedication, there is no quick fix. 10-15 pounds of lean muscle mass is considered great progress for a years worth of hard training.

Remember, nutrition is just as important, and is need or else your workouts will go to waste.

Good Luck!

Yeah I have found it extremley hard to pack on lean pounds. I am going for mass gains and dont care if some fat comes along with it because I cant gain anything unless I eat like a horse. But everyone is different and you never know what may work for you. But 15-20 pounds of lean mass in 12 weeks is pretty near impossible.

I have similar goals for gaining mass. I guess Arnold put it in perspective and that is, one must be willing to put on some fat too and that's where I have the hardest time. It took me a while to lose weight, i.e., fat, and I'm literally scared to put on more fat. Therefore, I have to do a more "progressive" program of keeping fat off and making modest gains in muscle. I must admit, the gains are hardly noticeable which in itself is frustrating. I'm seeing improvements in definition and bigger muscles however, the weight gain is almost non-existent.

Well, life is about choices right!
Good luck Jayda

yeas it is very possible to gain close to 20 pounds in a year. You have to have a very sound diet however if you dont want to gain very much fat and eat alot because of your high metabolism. and challenge your body to become stronger.
