I am hoping I can obtain insight.....I need to build upper body strength and I have only 90 days to get there....i am preparing to do a fitness test to become a firefighter. The problem is I do not want to look like a guy. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the community. It would be really helpful if you fill out your profile with lifestyle and goals. Alot can happen in 90 days but it cannot turn you into superwoman. Diet and excercise will do it.

You can make significant strides in 90 days in strength. In fact, your first 90 days or so will probably be your most productive! Please fill in your profile, let FT set you up with a great program. Then any questions you may have or alterations you may feel needed feel free to post and one of us will be glad to help you very quickly. Welcome to fT, and congrats on your decision to become a firefighter! Great choice, noble occupation.

First off, after reading your profile congrats on the 50lb loss and the new goals. One cannot spot reduce so an overall resistance training program with good nutrition will give you the strength and fat loss you are looking for. The reason the fat (that last bit) won't come off is because it's been there the longest and now you really have to speed up that metabolic rate. Put in your co-ordinates for an excersize program from this sight and start it. Also combine it with cardio. Those 2 will speed up your metabolism, build lean muscle tissue, and will replace the fatty tissue. Eat a good diet high in protien, good carbs, and fats. The upper body will come and the lower body will get better. Hope this helps, and I'm sure you will get more responses on this. Good Luck.
