I joined FT a couple of weeks ago and finaly went in to the gym tonight. It was just too crowded for me. I guess I am a little ashamed of the way I look right now to be too comfortable in that kind of environment again. I use to prefer going in the morning, so I will try tommorrow morning and hope that no one is there. Eventually I hope to find someone to workout with me.

Dont worry about people, every one is there to do basically the same thing to get into better shape!!

I understand your feelings on being uncomfortable. Our gym gets REALLY crowded. AS mrmagical said, don't worry about them. Just focus on yourself.

Yes my gym tends to be a little crowded after work hours as well. Try to go there in the mornings or during the day. Don't worry about the others. It's your body and you are the only one who can change, just believe in yourself!!

I did workout some and I am feeling it today. Hurts so good. I guess I will get used to it, after all it's been over 10 years since I even stepped into a gym. Thanks for the support.

I certainly agree with the above comments. There is no need to worry about others. Frankly, I have a great amount of respect for all people going to the gym - anyone, whether big or small can stand to be healthier, and at least you are willing to do somehting about it. There are many skinny people sitting on a couch watching the tv every night. Feel proud that you aren't doing that! My congrats to you!

Stay focused, and you won't see the others in the gym. Mondays and Tuesdays are the busiest days at my gym. I sometimes see people waiting for cardio machines. I get so focused in my lifting that I don't even hear or see anything while training, unless someone comes over to talk to me. Don't worry you will get as comfortable as you were in 83! Go get em!

I was at the gym last week and there was a woman there who had to weigh 450 lbs. I REALLY admired her for being there, nobody was "looking" at her funny or anything. I think we all thought, Wow, she is on the right track.

I was going to say that if i worried about what i looked like to others ( and to be honest there are times i do) while I am lifting I would never go. But after many years of improvement I am lifting more than most and now get people asking me for tips! LOL what a rush!!! Plus I get called "The Big Guy" at work and it is not because of my weight!! LOL so GO TO THE FREAKIN GYM AND DO NOT LET OTHERS DECIDE WHAT YOU WANNA DO!!!!!! Have a good one!!!!
