Hello all, I'm a nervous newbie who feels a little silly writing this right now but I seriously need some help. I really want to regain my health and get fit, but if you knew me you wouldn't think so. I start off with great enthusiasm but falter and hit like a big rock. I've been reading the posts for about two weeks and did the exercises in the first week. I felt great and was eating well. 2nd week rolls around and I didn't do ANY exercises and had this ridiculaous craving for things that I don't usually like or eat. I feel really embarrased as I am normally someone who encourages others to take care of themselves and eat well and exercise. I could ramble on and really bore you by giving you my full story but I want help, encouragement and support, not pity or to be ignored because I wrote so much. Maybe I'll actually ask a decent question in my next post. I really want to keep it real or what's the point?

First of all: Welcome to FreeTrainers.com
Secondly: You just need to hang in there. You’ve taken the first step by deciding that you need to get health. Find somebody to work out with. It can be hard to maintain enthusiasm if you have no one to share it with. Could it be that you’re expecting to see results immediately and when after a week nothing has changed you lose interest? You need to be patient; Rome wasn’t built in a day.
My advice: Find a workout partner, even an online workout partner can keep you from losing interest. Take it slow, baby step it for a while. Don’t see it as something you have to do, but rather something you want to do. Slowly incorporate your workouts into your daily routine.
-------------- Be patient, persistent and strong and you will succeed.

Hi Edevon, you have to believe in yourself and be sure of succeeding. Of course we'll try to help you all we can but it's still YOU and nobody else who are taking the decisions. You need to determinate your goal and then imagine yourself how you'll be. Keep that in mind and now work your way towards it. Good luck!

There is no reason to feel embarrased. We all have our downs. You just need to jump back on a try and focus a little more on why you want it. There is absolutely no reason you can't meet your goals. After a while, it will be second nature to work out and you will love it. It can become very addicting. When you start to see changes in you body, that is when it will start to become fun for you. Welcome to ft and we are all here to support you.

if you have a specific goal in mind, maybe it would be easier to keep on track? Just wanting to 'regain health' is a bit vague. Try telling yourself - "I want to be able to run 3 miles comfortably in 3 months time" or "i want to be able to bench press x weights by this time next year" or something like that.

Thanks Everyone. I'm going to do my level best to make this a reality. I do enjoy exercising and find it's a rush (and legal!), it's just I went so far down that I wasn't able to do much for myself - hense the frustration. Thanks for the encouragement though, and the advice. Tomorrow is a new day exercise-wise, today is a new day mind-wise.
Thanks again.
