Hello, newbie here. I've been working out fairly regularly and am moving up in strength. Being endomorphic, I've noticed that I seem to be getting rather bulky and not lean as I would like.
Any tips?

ps> It doesnt help that I work out with a buddy with a "go big or go home" attitude. :\

My diet is carb-loaded. I've started drinking whey protein shakes in the morning. I also eat fruit. Don't count calories. I should be doing more cardio. I do some stat. bike and jogging and occasionally play basketball. Used to play squash, haven't started back in Cali.

Cut back on the carbs, check out the nutrition area of the site and see how many calories it recomends and convert it to number of grams of protein/carbs/fats. Good luck in your goals and hope this helps.

Welcome to FT....a diet carb loaded will result in what is happening to you, no matter what. See, when glycogen stores are full, any extra is spill over, and much is stored as fatty acids due to blood sugar increases, which result in insulin responses. Higher protein, lower your carbs, especially the starchy and sugary ones, and cut fats. Up your cardio, and train hard.

Another newbie there. I dont understand what is the difference between wanting lean, wanting more tone, and bulk. What is the major difference in all of these types of shaping up. And I also need help with growing chest muscles. I'm not sure what to be contracting.

Lean and tone are basically the same things. Firm up the muscles and decrease the body fat. Bulking up is to gain muscle, increase size, etc. As for your chest check out the exercise and fitness resources there are pretty good instructions on the various types of exercises. Also search ft buddy for 'chest'. Good luck and welcome.
