Whey protein isolate is some of the best you can buy. Whey protein is easily absorbed by the body (high bioavailability) and is best immediately following a workout. Milk and egg protein are better throughout the rest of the day. It takes your body slightly more time to utilize these types of proteins, so they stay in your system longer.

I always mix my protein with skim milk, unless I'm taking it with ZMA. Since I get either the strawberry or vanilla flavors, sometimes I'll toss some strawberries or peanut butter in with it to change the flavor a bit.
