I have been reading quite a bit of info on whey protein on the site. Great info. Is there any particular brand that some might suggest. I know it has been said 2:1 carb to protein ratio. Is this correct? And if it is correct than does it really matter what brand?

Let me know. Thanks Marv

For some of us (including myself), it's the taste, protein quantity, price and mixability that determines a good protein shake. I can recommend a couple, but it will ultimately be up to you. Do some additional searching for old posts. A member did a price comparison a couple of months ago...

the 2:1 ratio is key for a post-workout meal.
when it comes to a brand, rob is right; but also look at the amount of protein per serving. take the amount of protein in a serving and divide it by the serving size. that will give you the % of protein per serving. 70% or greater is desired.
hope that helps.......

One thing to think about....post training especially, you want a pure whey isolate. It is the fastest digesting protein, and that is exactly what you want post training when you can enter your most anabolic state. Mix with 30-60 grams of glucose, and you increase protein synthesis tremendously. See, blood sugar levels can drop dramatically during intense training. So post training you need to get them up and fast. that way you get a nice insulin response, and the pure whey isolate is driven directly into hungry muscle tissue. Then your job is to keep bood sugar levels steady the rest of the day. That is where a good blended protein comes in, taken with low glycemic carbs.

Immediately post workout I prefer VP2 whey protein, made by AST sports science. they are a no nonsense supp company. In my humble opinion, reading and knowing what I know, there is no better post workout microfraction protein on the market. Now this is just immediately post workout. You need a super fast digesting protein to go with your super fast carb intake for blood sugar levels to stabilize via insulin response. This pushes the nutrients directly into hungry muscle tissue, providing the correct amino acids. If you are interested, go to www.ast-ss.com. There you can read for yourself. read Paul Delias Nutrient timing factor. wonderful reading, he is great I think. You may want to take a look at the Max Ot workout too. It is free, it is very educational reading, and will change the way you think about working out I bet. Good luck.

Actually it is Paul Cribb, he is the director of research and science. Paul Delia is founder. They must have something good, they train someof the very best drug free athletes in the world. Skip Lacour, 4 time team Universe champion, Derick farnsworth, 3 time universe champion, Jeff willet, 2 years ago team universe champion. Need I say more?
