Whenever I respond to a post about what supplements to take or those of that nature, I ALWAYS forget to mention something about a good multivitamin/mineral. Here's my take on the multi issue: I've been taking a multivitamin since I was old enough to take one. My parents set them on the table for me when I ate breakfast in the morning and when I got older I just continued taking them. I think I forget to mention multi's in my posts because they're one of those "common sense" supplements. In fact, I don't even consider it a supplement - its part of my diet. Everyone (young and old, active or lazy) should be taking a good multivitamin/mineral.

Sometimes we get so worried about our macronutrient intake (protein, fats, and carbs) that we forget about 'the little guys' (micronutrients - vitamins and minerals). If it weren't for these little guys, most of our macronutrients wouldn't even be digested and utilized properly by our bodies.

OK, I'll stop rambling now. Just wanted to make it clear that a multi is one of the most important (if not THE most important) supplements, whether I remember to mention it or not.

I've suffered from sinus infections and constant flu for years....... (wasting sooo many days on being sick!!!) Now since january this year I'm eating (tons of) vitamin pills every single day and I haven't had a flu ever since.......

Hmmmm I guess with all the training etc our bodies really need the extra micro nutrition.

Good point Jbennet!

Another good jb...it is absolutely essential to take your vitamins. Before I ever started with weights, I was into health foods and vitamins. I rarely ever get colds, flu, etc.. I also get so wrapped up in my posts with everyone on the supplements that I forget to mention the old multis. I am NEVER without Vitamin C, B-Complex, and Vtamin E. Those are my mainstays. If ever I do feel a cold coming on, I start loading up on Vitamin c, and add Zinc and Echinicea to the mix. This combo has knocked out more colds than I could ever count. My first symptons are always sneezing. I start immediately with the C and Zinc and Echinicea combo, and it knocks it out.
