Glutamine is the most expensive supplement I take. I always get the 1000g size for cost effectiveness ($48), but does anyone know why it costs so much in the first place? I think its worth every penny I spend, but its not so friendly to my wallet.

I have no idea why it's so high but I was doing some price comparison the other day and was surprised that the Protein Factory had the best price on glutamine (29.99 lb for the powder). I was even more surprised to see that they had Barlean's Flax Seed Oil at a little more than half the price that I had just paid for it at Barleans.com.
Maybe supply and demand has something to do with it? I think it's reasonable to assume creatine and glutamine should cost the same to manufacture, but since glutamine is not as popular as creatine, they make less glutamine and therefore production costs are higher, resulting in a higher end cost.
