hi i was just wondering how i should make my protein shake for maximum results? I am currently mixing 1 glass of 355 ml of skim milk, with a banana, and a tablespoon of peanut butter with 1 scoop of ultimate nutrition prostar whey protein which contains 22 grams of protein in a bleder...is this alright i mean will the protein not be used as effectively if i mix it with these ingredients or does it really matter...or should i just mix it with milk or water for it to be used more effectivley...i drink the shake right after working out...also will mixing it with raw eggs imbalance the amino profile and not be as effective...I was thinking of throwing a couple of raw eggs in my shake?
i need as much protein as i can get after a workout but is all the protein being used effectivley in such a mix or just better to mix with water or milk?
thanks!

I hear that peanut butter slows the absorption of protein, so for post workout you might want to consider using flax oil instead. Raw eggs are a bad idea (salmonella), instead you could buy those egg whites in a carton which you can drink without worry. Or, instead of that, put another scoop of protein in there.

Is this for your post workout shake or just something you drink during the day? If it is post workout, you want protein and high GI carbs, nothing else. The ideal combination is whey, maltodextrin (or dextrose) and water. That allows for the fastest possible absorption rate. Otherwise, shoot for .4g of protein and .8g of carbs per kilogram of body weight. As for me, I'm 160lbs. or 72.7 kg. So I take 30g of protein and 60g of maltodextrin in water immediately PWO. If you want, though, you could just mix protein, milk and a banana or two to make up the protein : carb ratio.
As for protein shakes during other times of the day - throw the whole kitchen in there. Okay, don't really, but you can mix all kinds of fun stuff. Don't put raw eggs in there as they are a salmonella danger. You could however use a pasteurized egg substitute.
