Supplements can be a great aid with your health and fitness goals. Combined with the proper exercise and nutritional plan they can be quite effective.

Anyone familiar with these products. My friend has become a distributor and stated since they've started using the product, her husband has lost 20 lbs, and she is losing weight too. She used to not eat enough and works out 2 hours/ 6 days a week. With these supplements you need to eat or you get nauseous, so since she is eating more w/ these supplements she is losing weight.

I wonder if she would have lost anyway since I think she wasn't eating enuff before...anyway, any comments on Advocare.

Thanks.

I've seen a system almost identical to this before. Basically, they use a Avon or Mary Kay-like referral web disribution system to get people to buy this stuff. The system that some guy tried to pimp to me was called Trim Advantage. The idea is that they sell you a few useful products and then push all the extra junk behind it. The funny thing is, the fella trying to sell me on this 'weight management' program was a good 15 pounds overweight himself. Needless to say, I passed. He purported himself as a nutritional guru, but couldn't answer some of the most basic questions that I asked (and already knew the answers to).
Bottom line: Some of the stuff in here will be useful. BUT, I couldn't tell you anything about the quality. Basically, companies like this are trying to take supplements and push them to the mainstream population. Their market is very segmented and they rarely push their stuff in fitness-oriented markets. That leaves me skeptical. Their products what undergo more scrutiny by folks with more expertise if they ran anywhere near the fitness market and I wonder if they actively or coincidentally avoid that.
There was no listing of ingedients, nutrional values or prices on their webpage which furthers my skepticism. So does the fact that they had a debt management service as part of their distributor program. All-in-all, I saw no backing for their products whatsoever on the website other than same fancy names of professional atheletes which are available to anyone for the right price.
Unfortunately there was also not enough information on the web page for me to really formulate any opinion about this stuff. It sounds to me like you friend was doing everything wrong to start with and simply improved her diet and workout habits. I doubt that these products did much of anything that she couldn't have done on her own.

Thanks mackfactor, that's kind of what I was thinking myself. I really don't like the fact that there is limited info on the products, especially on their website. She has a lot of friends and some of the people at her gym on them. I think one could obtain the same results without the supps. Maybe it's mind over matter...

Nice post, thanks again!

Actually I have to disagree with Mackfactor. I have taken advocare products with great success. Only buy what works and you think is going to help you nobobdy said you have to buy everything in the catalog. I have taken an energy drink through Advocare called "Spark" it curves your appetitite and gives you a ton of energy. 2 1/2 years ago I lost 40lbs with exercise and their products so yes I am a firm believer it works. If you need a catalog showing what is in their products I will be more than happy to share. No I am not a distributor just someone who appreciates the product. I can get the same products through advocare at a much cheaper price than any other supplement place. It is all preference whether it be advocare or any other producer of supplements. I have taken straight glutamine, whey protein and hydroxycut and honestly nothing more gained vs. the advocare products. If you have any questions let me know I will be completely nonest with you on the product.

Question is, marv49er, could you have achieved the same without? A lot of people who have tried to lose weight and failed finally clean up their diets and habits on their own, but attribute their success to whatever product they were using at the time. Despite that, regardless of whether it aided you in accomplishing your goal, it is yet to be seen whether the products are worth it. The majority of the Advocare products are available in many forms outside of Advocare. The question then becomes that of price.
Can you tell me more about this 'Spark' drink? Like what's in it, perhaps? I'm keeping an open mind, however when a company does not disclose information on their own website, their greatest marketing tool, I grow skeptical.
Feel free to share more info.
