I am 20 years old, weigh 160lbs and 5'11. I've been working out on and off for the past two years. I took creatine for a few weeks but was inconsistent with it. I am interested in taking it again now that I am working out consistently. What good brands of micronized creatine are there and what should I take it with? Any info would be great. Thanks.

Hey bb1fit, what other AST products do you use? I love AST and religiously follow there MAX-OT training program. There products are top of the line, and the micronized creatine is great.

Ditto to mrmagical. Creapure is the cleanest creatine on the market, and the only one that didnt upset my guts. Only a few companies use it, Universal and Prolab to name 2.

dahayz, I think AST makes a good product. I think their VP2 whey as far as a pure whey goes is excellent for immediate post training. I don't think I would get too hung up though on the Max OT program, it is great, but it is not for everyone. No matter what THEY claim one type of workout does not fit all. Some grow like a weed on this type of training, but others need more in the 9-12 rep range for hypertrophy to occur. Not all are blessed with an abundance of the same type of fibers. So, the moral is do not follow blindly one type of workout. All workouts have merit, but don't forget, change is good.

I agree, fortunately, I am one of those people that have made great gains. I used to work in the typical 8-12 rep range, blah blah blah. But i do agree that not everyone is suited for this kind of training. From your profile, i know you are a trainer, and i am finishing up my certification and will be close to completing my degree, as a responsible trainer, we do need to realize that people are just that different.

I think one of the most important issues with creatine is staying on it for the long haul, even if you miss workouts, have an injury, etc. I've kept my body weigth stable through a month of a back injury do to a car accident and I think it is because I kept up my protein, creatine, and glutimine intake.

That is the perfect time to be taking those supplements. During injursie, this way, you will be on your way to recovery in no time.
