One of the things which is necessary in overcoming a stale bench is bar speed. When you're pressing the weight up, just think of every few inches as a new sticking point. By developing explosive power all the way through the negative part of the lift (the "press" part), you will be able to press more. The trick to dyanmic lifting, which is what 10 sets of 3 of 50-60% 1 RM with 1 minute rest periods, is pushing that 50-60% as if it was really 100%. In other words, if your 1 RM in the bench is 300 lbs, then your dymanic lift of 150 lbs (50%) needs to be pushed as if you were actually lifting 300. It takes a little practice, but it defintely works.
Best of luck........

Good words, Rev.
If you plan on doing something like this, PLEASE do not just jump into it without knowing how to do speed excercises. Although you're only lifting 50-60% of your 1RM, you can seriously injure your shoulders, etc if you don't stretch properly. It is a very effective program that I would recommend to anyone looking to gain strength. Its not easy, though. A solid diet must be in place for it to be truly effective.
