I have been going to the same gym 3x aweek for almost 2 years now. After a certain amount of time the regulars always say a hello or spot each other and help one another out. I am a very friendly person, and don't know how to tell this one guy that I am there to work and not chat up a storm. Any suggestions without being rude to the guy?

lmao, just cause that worked on you ravenwolf, doesn't mean it works on everyone else. but I do agree with your latter opinion, just be honest or if that is really hard to do, give him the web address to freetrainers and tell him you are on there a lot for fitness purposes and that you really focus on your workouts at the gym to be what they are WORKOUTS! and you will also introduce him to a wonderful site, there are a lot of people on here who love to chat.

I have run into this very thing.....In the middle of him talking, when I am ready, I just start doing my set. They soon understand.

how about when they start following you around, while you are doing your sets...LOL I had that happen a lot when I used to workout on my own before ravenwolf and I met. I had finally told them to get lost! (ofcourse, most of them being men that were doing that, and a few woment too..LOL)

I just wear my headphones and I can't hear anyone and people get the point.

It's hard to simply blow someone off without coming across as rude. I just kindly say something like "Please excuse me, I don't have much time left, I have to finish my workout." Now if it's a female, we always find time to chat. lmaoooooo j/k

I wear this t-shirt that says "Shut up and train!" If someone bothers me in the middle of a set, I get off the bench, look him in the eye, and point to it. Works Every time.....LOL!

Thanks for the Ideas, Rev, you reminded me of a T-shirt I have, it says "I'm with stupid" and has a finger pointing sideways. Think I'll try it out! lol.
And as for the pic, now you know I'm really a male!

Well the tshirt thing worked. NOBODY stopped to talk to me. The gentlemen who hangs around me wasn't there. But I know which suggestion I will use in the future. Thanks for all the suggestions and I knew I can count on my gymrat buddies!
