Okay I'm so lost. I really have no idea what is going on with this whole war. Who are we fighting with now and why? What happend to Bin Laden. I would watch the news but I just dont have time. And we're not allowed to talk about it in school. Please fill me in!

What country are you from where the school doesn't allow you talk about the war? I would think if anything, schools would encourage discussion of this important subject. I feel sorry for you Nicole.

The schools here encourage it. As a matter of fact, the High School Seniors are required to do a "current event" project on it for their World History class. They even have a few schools with counselors to talk to the kids who are really bothered by it.
I'm assuming you go to a private school?
There is another discussion on this forum about the war too. Check it out. I think it will give you a good sense of what is going on and various different views on it.

I couldn't agree with you more dpking, how messed up is that when you can't discuss such an important topic that may affect just about everyone in this world.

Well Nicole as Canadian, I think your school should promote talking about the war in Iraq. You probably have fellow students who have parents or brthers, sisters etc that are involved. Why would the school have such a ban?

I live in Michigan. I go to dow, and there the only opinion they want to hear is the one who is protesting against the war, and personally I'm not.

Im glad to here that you are not protesting; this is a VERY IMPORTANT WAR. Its about our right to freedom, its about are own safety, try to take time to watch the news and read the papers, get informed.

Not allowed to talk about in school? what the heck! thats nuts. my kid talks about it alot in his high school, but then again, he's really really informed because we make darn sure he is! we talk (and argue) about it alot. we debate everything and everyone here knows they can express their opinions. its not only up to the schools, but parents need to take the time to tell their kids what is going on and why. this is really important stuff!! keep asking questions nichole, its a great step! im glad you care!
