Most women's calorie needs fall between the 10-15 calories per lb. range, with the higher end being more active, the lower less active. This is a good place to start your calorie setting at. Pick a number depending on your activity level, and stay with it for 2-3 weeks. In that time, if you are gaining weight, fine, this is what you said you want. If you are maintaining, then up the calories. The same with losing. Hope this helps...by the way, this 10-15 is not a random number, this is the best range for most women.
