I heard 1 hour is a limit but I usually do is within 1h 20min after that I feel tired which is not suppouse take place (overdone) .... try do it as fast as you can without sacrificing the form and 1 to 2 min break .... I take 1 min between sets 2 min is too much (for me) I get tired and I loose the hype....

If you're training a single bodypart (Chest for example) 30-45 minutes should be plenty. If you're doing two, lsay chest and triceps, you should be going around 45-55 minutes. Getting over an hour is pretty long... sometimes exercises like squats, deadlifts and leg press require more rest between sets, you those work-outs will take a bit longer..

how long it takes depends on your program..since I weight train, do aerobics and work my abs it sometimes takes me way more than an hour.

It realy does depend on your routine. But not matter what your routine is try not to wait any longer then 2 min between sets for smaller muscles and 5 minutes between sets of larger muscles.

I really do believe and have read lots of times that no matter what muscle that if you wait longer then 3 1/2 mins then you're wasting your time. Whether a larger muscle or small muscle you will have gained all the possible strength that you could have by the end of the 3 1/2 min period. Alkatraz

I read recently that it is not good to work out much longer than one hour. Just be sure to fully exhaust your muscles with heavy weight if you are trying to gain mass.

45 minutes is perfect for weight training. 1 1/2 hours for weights and cardio.
