Muscles getting hard during wkout

I have been following the general lifting program for about a month now, and this summer I worked out my biceps and forearms pretty regularly (for golf). What my problem is, is that these muscles (specifically) become really hard during a workout that involves them. They feel as if they're being constantly flexed, but in fact they're relaxed. Does anyone know if it is common for muscles to do this, or is there something I might be doing or not doing (ie. diet, lack of streching, etc.)

It's called a pump.......it happens to everyone, it means that there is blood in the muscles causing them to "pump up".

Get pumped and enjoy it. That is one of the immediate signs that you are doing something right!

Absolutely a good thing. If you ever get your hands on the documovie "Pumping Iron" you'll hear Arnold say something to the effect that the pump is better than sex! I don't know if I agree with that accessment but it is a very enjoyable feeling. It is however an aquired taste. Golf huh?
