I'm going to be starting a program laid out by Gatormade and I need my 1RM for many exercises. What's the best technique for working out to reach my 1RM? What's a proper wait time between sets?
Thanks for the help

Jplatz, don't know if it helps but there is a 1 rep max calculator here at FT. Its under fitness resources.

I've looked at that Charlie and I've tried to calculate mine, but I want to have the exact numbers. I sometimes feel that I'm not lifting quite what I could be, so I want to take one week and get all of my 1RMs.
Thanks for reminding me though. I actually had forgotten about that. I think it will help me calculate some of mine.

Usually you will start with a couple of warm up sets. then and others can jump in here if I am off base, do a couple of sets in the 3 rep range then go for a max lift...this will let your body get used to the idea that heavier weights are coming..make sure to have a good spot!

what i do is same reps....but diff weights
I like 5x5 training
this what I do for dead lifts
225 warm up
225x5
335x5
375x5
405x5
425x5
of coarse i don't liek low reps but thats just me, you can do 3 4's and 2 3's or whatever you like. I'm no expert but i like it.

I started with the legs. Light warm up set and then I went heavy for a few reps and then I maxed. I did this for every max required.
