Well you need to follow a healthy diet and add weight training. I lost 30 pounds in about a 4 month period. It has stayed off and I am continuing to replace fat with muscle. You have to find your own self motivation to really make this work. If you have a fall, don't worry about it, just jump right back on. You will find good motivation here from all of us as well.

Hi CindyP. I have been on weight watchers for almost 2 months now (I do it online - no time for meetings). I am losing a couple pounds every week for the most part. I do believe that lifting with a reasonable diet is the key. I have been lifting for just a little over a month. Just try to focus on the fact that this is a lifestyle change and give it time. Best of luck to you!

To stay motivated try and picture what you would look like if you lost 30 pounds, and say to yourself that the only way you'll look like that is if you workout. Also do what Mutt said, if you need motivation, this is the place to come. Good Luck

Hi CindyP,
I have 30 to lose as well. We both can do it. Lots of great people here. I have learned a lot. Good luck and if you want we can keep each other updated since we have the same amount to lose.
My motivation right now is to lose the jiggly and get my thighs and booty back to where they used to be. Looking great.

:) Melissa

Welcome Cindy, Glad you joined us. I have had a hard time sticking with things, but this is by far the easiest thing that I have done to stay on track. I think a key to staying on the path to success, and everyday, be focused on your goals. And once you start seeing your progress, that in itself will keep you on track, because you will be so proud and you have given the chance to prove to yourself that you can do it. The hardest thing is staying with it. Alot of people get with a program, lose it, and think that they can go back to their old lifestyle, maybe lighten up a little. But that does not work. You have to slowly try to change your lifestyle, permently. But once you educate yourself, it is easy, and once you lose the weight and it is off, a couple more cheat days are on the calender, and you don't have to be so strict. When i started here, i needed to lose 30lbs as well. I have lost 15 in two months, when i thought there was nothing out there that would work to drop this last bit. But free trainers has done it for me. Stay focused, chart your cals, fats, carbs and proteins everyday to stay in your limits, and try to do your cardio and workouts when you can and you will see great progess. Good Luck to you.. You can do it. If i can, I KNOW you can. ha ha LOL

Hi. I'm 154 lbs and should only be about 110lbs. So, basically, i need to lose about 45 lbs. The problem is, i dont know how to go about it. I have been trying for 2 years now and i just can't seem to stick to it. I fall off the track and can't seem to hop back on until i've gained a few more pounds and its very depressing. Also, i dont really know what kind of exercising i should be doing considering a cannot get to a gym. I have weights, but that is it. But, im starting to get desperate. I need a few pointers. Anything that anyone could offer is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I would suggest filling out your profile and following the nutritional guide FT gives you... plus, look up on Fit Buddy Grocery List for a body builder... it won't turn you into one (unless that is your goal) but it will give you an indication of what you should be eating... plus, don't use the term 'diet.' It's a lifestyle change... diets don't last very long, lifestyle changes are forever...

Welcome to FT!

Hi everyone! I'm new to this site, but I'm REALLY glad I found it! I need to lose 30 lbs of my post pregnancy weight and I'm hoping to do it by Oct. If anyone has any suggestions on how to speed the weight loss safely - please let me know. For some reason I'm having trouble staying motivated, and I'm getting depressed about it. I'm so glad I found this site to talk to some people who can share my pain.

FIT BUDDY, FIT BUDDY, FIT BUDDY...

check out the older posts on how to lose weight, but just in case you're wondering here's a hint:

healthy diet + regular exercise + rest = weight loss and toning.

Welcome all, you all can do it. The best place to start is by filling out your profile and getting on an exercise plan. Just go to the top of this page, click on "FT Profile & Inbox" and fill out your profile.

Good Luck and remember we are here to help you along the way.

Welcome-

Remember diet and exercise are the two most important things to accomplishing your goals. You can't achieve anything without both. Imagine it this way, you need to get 20 miles in 20 minutes. Imagine you have a fast car, but no gas. That would be like the excercise with no proper diet. Or imagine having the gas, but no car. That is a good diet with no exercise.

Look around the site, you will find lots of posts with much helpful information.

Eat less and exercise more.

And seriously, how hard is it to add in one extra letter in your words so they're actually readable??

Hello everybody,:) I?m new to ft-pro. I?m 59 years old, 5' 10, 230 lbs, I would like to loose 50 more. I have lost 20 lbs in the last 18 months. I had a set back due to foot surgery, I was bed bound for two months.
My new work out will be:
Mon. Weights & Cardio, Tue. Trainer & Cardio, Wed, Weights & Cardio, Thur Trainer & Cardio, Fri. Weights& Cardio Sat Cardio Sun Off
Since last August I?ve lost 5% Subcutaneous fat
My problem is visceral fat, and the articles I?ve read recommend Cardio 5 miles x 6 days.
I?m on a beta-blocker so no matter how hard I work out I?m real hard pressed to get an average Heart rate over a hundred.

I think the first step is knowing that you deserve to be healthy and loving yourself. I've tried so many weight loss programs before and I succeeded but I would eventually gain it all back. I realized I was pushing myself too hard and too fast and really, I was doing it for other people. Do this for you! because you deserve to have a happy and healthy life just as much as the next person!! and give yourself time. you didn't just wake up one day 10 or 15 lbs heavier. you gained it little by little, you'll lose it that way. Good Luck!!:)

hi everybody!

i'm sasha and have always been determined to lose weight. i was 170lbs originally back in march. i really had to condition my mind and body for this but temptations are everywhere!

after 3 months, i lost 5lbs - just hitting the gym thrice a week so i thought maybe if i'd go often, i'd lose more weight.

and i did! went to the gym everyday, made me lose 5 more. my body was very sore after, feeling i overdid it. i took some days off.

so now, i go to the gym five times a week. cut my sugar intakes, ate less carb, more proteins and veggies and yoghurt.

my goal is to lose 45lbs by the end of the year and look fab!

i try to motivate myself more and be determined. i always keep in mind that losing weight means loving yourself and not doing as a favor to someone else.

when you lose weight, you'll feel healthy and light - that will make you happy and more beautiful.

I always try to get motivated but it fades and I go right back to my old habits. On this web they talk about certain foods that will burn fat and lose your stomach is this true? http://www.the-body-store.com should I try it?
