well at my high school we had 4 major lifts we did......squats, bench, cleans, deadlifts we didn't have a % club we just had totals or combined lifts........we also did this thing where you take everyones body weight( whole class) and the weight they all lifted.....found a common denominator and divided all this together to get a ratio lb per lb..........this wa sintresting because the score was based on lb per lb not total weight lifted. Some girls had high ratios than buys cause thet lifted more lb per lb. example a wreasler in high school I knew was 135lbs ( 140 weight class I believe) benched 280 cleaned 250 squated 315, deadlifts 350 his ratio/ score was like 850 somthing........this line man I knew was 280 lbs he benched 320 squated 400 cleaned 250, deadlifted 450
these are very good high maxes however his score was one like 750 something..........lb per lb the smaller guy was stronger than the bigger lineman. Very very intresting -------------- ---andrew.......adversity causes some to break, but others to break records! LEAVE YOUR EGO AT THE DOOR!! |

at my high school we combined the max on power cleans, squats, and bench. total weight lifted was the club you were in... lowest club you could be in was 800 i believe, before that it was a "gold club". yea pound for pound the smaller guys are usually better because they have less fat.

I beg to differ the more wieght you have the more you can lift. Of course there will always be those that can lift more and be thinner...but fat really has nothng to do with it look at mark anthony the worlds strongest man he is for sure carrying fat...show me a thin guy that can lift like him...-------------- LIFT HEAVY! i just meant that usually pound for pound little guys are stronger...like my roommate is a power lifter in the 165 lb class... he benches 340 competition style... thats more than twice his body weight... most guys you see at the gym around 200 or 210 can't even get that... i know that there are people who also weight 200 or 210 that are all muscle and throw up over twice their body weight also..just that in high school the strongest guys usually have a lot of fat and so pound for pound if you divide it out the smaller guys are stronger

Yes I find this to be very true in my highschool as well...it could be because the smaller guys get a lot of motivation from watching the big guys put up serious poundage..and work that much harder...who knows haha...but I am a firm believer that no matter how big or small u are...it all depends on your mind...as long as you work as hard as you can and be smart...you will reach your potential...:)-------------- "Without Pains, there come no Gains" -Benjamin Franklin |

not the size of the dog in the fight ,its the size of the fight in the dog.............gues that can hold true to most cases I guess.....I think smaller guys( no offense to any of the smaller guys here) have more fast twitch fibers or something, cause my friend can do some insane weight but can't rep for crap, where as i can take the same weight or a lil lighter and do it 12 or 15 times, guess its all about how you train to and traning for-------------- ---andrew.......adversity causes some to break, but others to break records! i dunno bigandrew you might be on to something. I am a skinny 5' 6" 130 lb. runner with less % of body fat than the little machine could read. All i do is train in the 12 to 16 rep range and here are the facts. my max bench is 180 while if you ask me to get over 20 reps with 100 all i do is cringe. while my "bigger" friend always tains realy low reps and weighs in at 190, bench 180 too, but can rep till the fat lady sing on anything lower than 120. Confusing? is to me

excuse me??? actually I'm not on "anything" stongest thing i have taken is animal m stak. All I'm on now is creatine, whey protein, lots of water and always eating........if you train right you should be able to do both high reps and low reps-------------- ---andrew.......adversity causes some to break, but others to break records! LOL...when I first read it I thought it said "on something" as well...I have a friend that can do alot of weight for one rep..his maxes are close to mine, but when we work out...I just kill him in reps...he is a bigger guy-------------- "Without Pains, there come no Gains" -Benjamin Franklin |
