Make sure you put this in the "how much do you deadlift" threade. Oh and epic pull, again.

thank you guys. felt like i had another 10-20 lb easy in me. will need to see if I can hang on to the weight with just chalk. I am thinking of trying hook grip maybe but that's extremely painful. lol

I'm just wondering too, your back looked a little bent when you made that lift; how'd you manage to pull that without hurting yourself?

congratulations. is that elite? also, i was looking at your other videos and i noticed your squat is i think 240 pounds less than your deadlift... seems a little odd to me.. -------------- Veni,Vidi,Vici.= I came, I saw, I conquered.- Ceasar |

I am naturally more adapt at deadlifts than squats. I lift with shoulders forward. I got a couple injuries that have been nagging me on squats for forever so that's part of the huge disparity.
Yea generally deadlift>squat but for me it's getting to the point of rediculous. I have been trying to break 500 squat barrier for a while. Had 2-3 over the head rolls with the bar. lol... if i can replicate it with just chalk then i think it's def in the elite category...esp with no gear or aas. | |

Not sure how menace is built...hard to tell from vids. However a "longer" built person( long arms legs etc) will always be a better puller.imo
BTW my coach pulls double over hand and is close to pulling 700 in gear. He has pulled 670ish wigh double overhand. -------------- \"The eight laws of learning are explanation, demonstration, imitation, repetition, repetition, repetition, repetition, and repetition\" |

didnt really fix the hitching/ramping. I just got stronger. Had I got another 20-30 lb heavier I prolly would have been doing the prior....which to me is not a huge deal as I am not a competitive PLer so those set of rules dont really affect me. and I have never gotten injured hitching/ramping..

Hook grip is really tough initially; gotta drop the pounds in order to get used to them, and it may take awhile. But, ultimately, you should be able to pull more. I only know of two ranked competitors that use it regularly (and with success): Brent Howard, who just won the WABDL Worlds, and Brad Gillingham, who isn't even human.

Good pull man, looked pretty clean.
If you're considering switching to hook grip, he might not be my coach but Misha pulls that way and just posted a video of something rediculous like 860 for 3, so it can be done. Of course, if you aren't competing in powerlifting and you know your grip isn't weak, then I don't think the straps are really that big a deal. -------------- SQUAT MORE ~Jesse Marunde Blood Guts Sweat Chalk |

When we gunna see you competing? You get your bodyweight up 10lbs and you'd be a threat to the lw pros in strongman.

Why I ask is besides weakness work I was thinking strapping a final rep would help to make the other set get stronger meaning use it on max days for 1 more max with straps to strengthen legs for the non strapped lifts. As wrestler says if my grip is there then the straps are not that big of a deal and with the thinking I said above it makes sense to me as it should help strengthen then non strap lift. -------------- Knock-Um Down & Keep-Um Down! I have no idea what my grip can hold. The difference might not be all that much but it's just one thing less to worry about while pulling.
I might compete spring or summer if there's something close to where I live. I might compete in police/fire/military PL...I know alltime deadlift record is 620 so should be interesting.. Thanks Ka. I still dont know what's an alltime tested/raw deadlift max. |
