Taste is relative...and will vary with each person. There have been many posts on protein shakes. Optimum is not a bad brand and at $19 for 5 lbs...that sounds like a good deal. I pay $54 for a 4 lb. jug of Nitro-Tech. The only thing that I found with their Milk & Egg protein mix is that it was very hard to mix without the use of a mixer. The stuff clumped up in a shaker bottle. Didn't have this problem with Nitro-Tech.
Just make sure the ingredients contain a fair amount of protein (18+ grams per serving), sugar should be 2 grams or less (per serving) and calories should be over 100 per serving.

Sorry, I got this brand confused with Challenge. Never mind about the clumping up...I've never tried the Optimum brand.

has anyone tried or heard of Optimum?????? It has 22g of protein per serving and only 1.5 fat grams. As a 16 year old kid i dont have much money so I think this would be a good deal for me. thanks for the help.

Yes I have used the Optimum. It is not the "tops" in taste because it is average quality (unlike the cross filtered stuff thats $$$$).It is great for someone on a budget looking for a cost effective and decent quality whey. Keep using it.

Optimum has been around for 15 years and they have a pretty decent reputation. The main reason people aren't talking about their products and buying their products like they're going out of style is simple: they don't spend a ton of money in advertising. They became a good company by having good products. Yes, $20 is a good deal.
Just curious, where are you getting this from? I'm always searching for the best prices online.

If you don't care about taste.. then it's a great deal. With low priced items such as this.. you have to be carefull about the contents. In most cases you will get an upset stomach.. and the runs! :)
Good Luck

Not just the runs, but the cheap stuff is hard to mix without a good electric mixer!

I have noticed that the cheap stuff doesnt mix good but i can deal. Most of the protein I buy comes off certain sellers on ebay who give great deals. Had nothing but sucess on ebay.

Its funny you should post that e-bay auction because i bought a 5lb optimum bucket of whey protein from him 2 weeks ago. The mixing of this product is actually very easy, it works with a spoon pretty decently, but i still use a hand shaker, cause i like it when it has a "foamy" :) texture (i mix with skim milk and the pina colada flavored whey) P.S. this is a great E-bay seller and i will be purchasing more from him in the future!
