Menace - you get right to the heart of it.
i have one client who refuses to eat right and doesn't lose weight, but she is stronger and healthier than she used to be, and that is what she wanted. She wants to be more competent as she ages, she wants to fight osteoporosis, she wants to be strong.
People train for different reasons, you have to acknowledge all of them for doing something healthy - most people won't even get to the gym once a week.

Asimmer...I know of just the old man you speak of....sometimes it's painful just to watch....
in general I love an exercise that turns into a fullbody routine....it's just hilarious to watch...although I am guilty of this myself at times...trying to fight for that last rep...lol
Likewise...the only thing I said...was that since you became offended by 'one of the types' mentioned in justin's post...I guessed this is how you must perceive yourself...otherwise you would not have gotten mad over it and would have just took it in stride....
Also the reason people lift weights varies considerably...so just because your goal is to be able to see all of your 600+ muscles doesn't mean that's the case with everyone else...gl trying to see your heart btw...lol
many people lift just for the added benefits that resistance training provides....not to simply be able to see that 6pack....or others train to lift most weight...or improve in a given sport....the reasons are numerous...so there's no need to make implicit jabs at certain people...I personally combine powerlifting/bodybuilding aspects to fit my own goals...nothing is set in stone..
also....I don't see why there's any need for any insults to fly around...you can think I am the biggest a-hole here but you can still separate me from my arguments and try to disprove what I am saying...or whoever else you are in disagreement with...I personally think we could all learn a lot from such debates as long as we keep it 'civil'
