I am so proud of my 13 year old that I just have to brag about it!!!

For years, I have tried to get my kids to work out with me, whether it be run, walk, exercise, a class, hiking, whatever and my son was always the one right there alongside mom (I have three girls, 1 boy). My daughters would try off and on with me and get really bored with it..lol Damn lazy girls, until Gabriella (the baby).

She has been consistently working out on her own, at school and with me for three years straight now, starting in dance, then track, now lite weightlifting. It is embarrassing, but very proud to say that my daughters has more muscle toned biceps than I do!!!

She found out she just made team captain for her school's track team and also made the varsity dance team!

This is a thirteen year old, who eats all her vegetables, takes all of her vitamins, doesn't flood her system with sweets and garbage on her own (with a little guidance from mom and freetrainers).

She hasn't joined because she is petrified of the youth sections (and I am too!!LOL!) but she has read many of wrestler's, bb1's, menaces, revs and asimmers articles to name a few as well as looked at the exercise programs and formations on here to make sure she is doing all of them properly. Most 13 year old girls come home constantly talking about what cute boy they seen or how they broke a nail, Gabriella comes home and tells me how she did her 6 minute mile in track, how many sit ups she did in PE and beat everyone in her class at them, or telling me she is out of her snack bars (cliff is her favorite) and needs more or asking me if i want to go for a jog as soon as i get home. She is and has been an honor roll student for years now and has report cards with nothing less than B's on them. She has taken education and her health very seriously, mind you she is a very unique girl. Loves old music(BB King, Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong and worships Beethoven:love:)

Not only has this child motivated herself, she has motivated me to stay on top of the game. Watching and seeing how excited she got when I got her a membership at our local gym was the best.

I have a child who worships her body like a temple, more than I do myself, i must confess. It is a beautiful thing to see in your child.

Her next goal...getting a six pack...LOL!

Gabriella, you truly are an inspiration to me and many others. Love you!

Very nice post raven and somewhat coincidental really, my oldest girl is 9 and she came up to me just tonight and said, I just weighed myself, I lost a pound. I thought hmmmm. Yeah, she says, I've been exercising(one day). I said oh really, and she goes yeah, and proceeds to show me some of the things she watched me do here at home. Then continued to show me her muscles on top of it. This may just be the start of something great. I know just how you feel. Aren't kids the greatest!

That's awesome! It's great when you see a healthy lifestyle rubbing off on the kids. Can't say that mine are "athletes" at school, but they've both found there fitness "thing" my youngest does pilates, swims and is just generally always on the move while my oldest loves her fencing classes. Both are itching to join me in the gym, but I'm waiting until they're old enough to go on there own (16 at my gym). My girls like to joke with their friends at school that their Mom has bigger guns than the other Moms:laugh: At least fitness has become a normal thing in their lives...Now if I could just ween them of chips and pop...

Fly...I learned how to do the weening off chips and pop some time ago, i think i actually posted it here a few years ago from what i can remember..

We have what we call a "Goodie Friday" for the kids, where they can basically eat what they want (dessert, chips, soda) for Friday every week. Over the years, it has paid off, while they hated it at the beginning, they are actually used to it now and don't really eat that much junk food at all, even on Fridays. Their body got so adjusted to it, that it cannot handle a lot of Junk Food persay. The biggest point in making this absolutely work is..you have to lead by exampleship, otherwise it ain't gonna fly. If they don't see how serious you are about it, they won't be serious about it.

It was very hard when RW was in the house, he was a junk food junkie!!! LOL!

It works great though.

Steve, if there were more mom's like me.....i'd be scared!! LOL!

Yah, I pretty much do that already. Friday is Pizza night and they also get to buy their lunches at school that day. I don't buy any pop during the week anymore...couldn't believe how much they could go thru and waist! And I don't buy junk food. So they're actually pretty good now, but they are old enough to buy stuff when they want to, so I think my eldest still goes for bags of chips when she wants. On the other hand, they are both big raw veggie eaters, so gotta take the bad with the good. My eldest even has a bag of spinach with her lunch! Thanks for the suggestion though it's a good reminder to keep things in check:)
