I normally don't have too much of a problem resisting the sweets, but every so often (ladies, you know where I'm at here - sorry, guys...) I NEED CHOCOLATE!!! Everyone else, get out of my way. I'll knock down old women and children for it. No matter how much I tell myself I shouldn't do it and look at the progress I've made so far, it doesn't matter. So, I need some advice to kick those cravings out the door.

I swear by a dill pickle...I have absolutely NO idea why it works for me, but it does.

I say all things in moderation FG, allow yourself a monthly Hershey's miniature or two and spare the old women and children in your neighborhood, would ya?!! ;)

LoL Julisa. But you're right, a chocolate now and then, especially THEN, won't do harm. I usually allow myself a miniature (or two) every other day. As long as you get your exercise you'll be ok. Infact, chocolate has many benefits for the brain...it's not an excuse, it really DOES. Reeses'Peanut Butter cups have many benefits for my brain.... =)

If your craving chocolate, is having hot cocoa enough!
If so,is what I do is use add this to a coffe cup of hot water.

1 tsp. of baking cocoa
2 tsp of creamer
2 pks. sweetener to it!
(only 30 calories, sugar free & fat free)

Or if you rather have milk thats fine, but if you want to reduce calories from the milk, I would do half milk and half water and it will taste just as good! But remember unless you use skim, it will have some fat in it!
I hope that helps! Have a great day!

I'll tell you now, trying to cut sugar is one of the harder aspects of dieting, but necessary. I compete in bodybuilding so I diet down pretty hard, and one of the criterea is cutting sugar. I've tried everything to fight the crave and even after months of low sugar intake, the craving is still there. Be careful though when you feed the crave, you don't want to do that too often because the urge will get worse. Bottom line...it sucks and it comes down to willpower. Good luck

I posted this somewhere else but if chocolate makes you feel better when you are PMSing then go for it, cuz somedays NOTHING else can. Just dont over do it. Last week there were a lot of shows on Valentines Day kind of stuff and I saw one on chocolate. By the end of the segment the consensus was that people who dont like chocolate probably dont like sex. Hand me that Dove bar would ya?

Hmmmm... azredhead, I like your point. Anyway, thanks to everyone for your tips and suggestions. I'm over it now. One of the guys in the office has even set down a huge tub of Harry London's Mint Chocolate Cookie Crunches down on my desk and I haven't dipped in even once. Hats off to me today!!! I think tracking everything in the nutrition tracker on this site helps. If I see how bad I've been staring me right in the face, it really hits it home.

Reminds me of my great M&M caper. The thread is entitled "I went to steal" in the nutritional section for those who are interested.

Why would only women have this particular craving????

I have to agree with the allowing yourself things when you 'have to' have them. However, I stick with the high quality, high cocoa solids chocolates. A little goes a loooong way, and you get far more of the benefits of chocolate - and yes, i's not a myth, chocolate is actually good for you - but you won't find so much of the good stuff in a hershey's kiss, more's the pity....

funee...Best way to stop sugar cravings is by eating enough that you just aren't hungry. Sugar cravings are nothing other then your body saying "feed me something and quick". Sugar digests quickly and satisfies your bodies urge for substanance, unfortunately it doesn't keep you satiated for long, so you start getting hungry again soon there after. If you make sure you're eating 6 mini-meals a day and getting your required calorie intake to maintain or lose weight as well as drink plenty of water (I drink 1 gallon a day) then you should be able to keep your cravings in check.
