ok here is my prob, Im 61 and 215lb when i do a daily cal calculator it says i need like 3k + but eating 6 times a day with high protien and only clean carbs i only clear about 1500, 1700 tops a day im not hungery all day and have good energy lvl due to eating at least 20-30g of protien every 2.5-3 hours. Now from what i read that has the potential to put me in a starvation mode. Now some diet plans that i have read IE, Body for Life and some others that have restrictive cal requirments have you basically eat what ever you want on day 7 to keep your body from going into starvation mode. I guess im asking if this is "true" should i take this day off due to my low cal 6 days a week or should i just do what i do 7 days a week. currently i am losing weight pretty good i work out accourding to ft program 5 days a week and do cardio 3-5 times a week. I just dont want to go into a starvation mode and have it hurt me in the end. once i get to my target wieght of 180 I plan on switching gears and build mass :) let me thank you in advance for any help you can assist :)

are you 61 years old or 6 feet 1 inch tall? that's unclear to me.
if you are 61 then you can get by with less calories if you aren't super active because as you age your appetite gets smaller and you tend to store fat easier (or something like that) I'd say if you aren't hungry then don't eat, but do try to take a protein supplement especially after work outs to make sure you aren't starving your muscles. (This shake part is also advice if you happen to be 6'1)
i feel dumb today

The cheat day isn't to stop your body going into starvation mode as this can happen in a lot less time than one week - you need to eat frequently to avoid starvation mode.
The cheat day is a motivational tool - if you know that you can have chocolate on sunday your chances of eating chocolate on monday, saying "well, there goes the diet, I might as well have 4 cans of lager and a massive tub of icecream" are much less!
