I'm new to the whole workout thing. I've been rather quiet and bookwormish all my life. As a result, I also have very little experience choosing clothing. My wardrobe consists mostly of jeans and t-shirts. I'm going to add some pieces of activewear. But it all looks so much different from what I usually wear, enough that I feel funny wearing this new stuff. I want to be comfortable in my choices of activewear and not look like a geek who doesn't have a clue.

I might start taking some of the cardio kickboxing classes my dojang offers. I'll also start running at a nearby park and a high school track one of the trails leads to, and some biking on those same trails.

I'm wondering if anyone has any tips for me.

Looses fitting and breathable. Also your bra is very important. I'll let the ladies tadvise you on that one!:big_smile:

Sports bra - ah so important!
:laugh::laugh::laugh:
It all depends on how much "bounce" you can tollerate so be sure to hit a good sporting goods store and try on a whole bunch. While in the changeroom jump around a little to make sure you get the one that you like best. Snug is a good thing even if it can create the "uniboob" look depending on how busty you are.
By the sounds of your interests I'd recommend talking to someone at your dojang and see what other would recommend. Beyond that seek out good quality breathable "Yoga" wear. Yoga designed garmets are usually light, breathable and comfortable.
I'm a Wranglers girl myself so I know what you're saying. Personally I wear shorts all year round (even at -30C in Alberta!) because I do wear shorts in the summer so I'm more comfortable in that.

Try to remember it's not a fashion show (although that's easier said than done) and above all else - have fun! Go for some bright coloured T-shirts or something to liven up your look and (if you're anything like me) your mood! I work out at 5:30 am most mornings so wearing something cheery when I'm not feeling exceptionally cheery can help.

Yes I know, I'm a weird duck!

personally....any "dry fit" stuff is good........Under Armor being my personal fav. Any of the dry fit, stuff will pull the sweat away from your skin, and help keep you cool. I find it makes my workouts better, cause the material allows more air to pass threw and get to my skin, and keep me more cool.

I knwo for a fact under armmor makes sports bras...you may pay 30bucks......but oh its worth it.

Always try on - the jumping around is a great idea too at least walk in the outfit but jumping jacks & toe touches is what I do maybe a squat too that way I know I can move in it because something are only made to look cute in not for really working out

Black pants with a white strip with a white sports bra always works (if you have the tummy to go top less if not white t-shirt)

another thing I like is the tops with the sports bra built in. those are usually made for either a/b cup or b/c - if you are bigger stick with the reg sports bra unless you go to a "big" girls shop where they make them to fit & work
