I was just wondering why are food additives like E numbers, flavourings, acidity regulator, stablilisers, etc etc so bad for you? I know they're bad and health concious people tend to stay away from these but what exactly do they do? how do they harm the body?
thanks

My guess would be that their just that, additives...not naturally occuring substances. Someone who knows for sure will come along and clarify as to why.

As a general rule most of the food additives are made up of chemicals. Some are not, but most are. Some people are more sensitive than others and have a hard time processing these additives. It is always better to eat food in its more natural state so your body doesn't have to filter out unnecessary products. There are also in depth findings that have linked many chemicals found in foods to illnesses in people that were sensitive to them.
