I'm not a big eater, I don't like everything. I don't even have a good appetite, lol. I'm not a vegetarian, but I am not a meat fan. If I have something like beef, I can taste it the next day. You can say I have very simple tastes. That goes for desserts as well as everything else. I find diets very hard to follow because I'm always trying to find substitues for the things I don't like. Can anyone help me find something simple or do I have to tell you what I don't like (basically), lol.

Well, I think the biggest barrier that people face when it comes to food is taste. I got rid of eating for taste long ago. Food is simply a means to an end, eating to live instead of living to eat. This is how I look at things, if it is good for you, then I am going to eat it regardless of taste. For some reason people are comforted by eating good, fatty foods and that's ok I guess, but if you are really serious about living a truly healthy life, eat to live and eat for health.

Congrats on the quitting smoking, not only will you feel better but you can spend the money on good food. Like dahays said try and eat good food with less fat. Try to not eat as much refined carbs and you will shed that 30lbs.
You say you like simple foods, so have a can of tuna, have a couple of eggs without the yolks. These are good proteins and pretty simple. Save the cheesecake to reward yourself on the last day of the month. Take a look at the nutrition program on here.
Good Luck Felicia.

I have been eating more fruits lately. Banana's, oranges and apples. The plumbs didn't look that great, lol. I also love a great salad. I had chicken salad last week for dinner a few times. I filled me up and I managed to get lots of vegetables in.

I can limit myself on the cheesecake. I can limit myself on alot of things that are bad for me that I like. If I eat too much of a good thing, it's not good anymore, lol. This morning I consumed a bowl of raisin bran (2% milk) and a banana. I just need the sweet, lol.

Your on the right track.
You might want to try oatmeal with some raisins in it for sweetness.
Try doing a search on here for some good food ideas. It's been discussed oodles of times. There are some good recipies too.

LOL @ magical1 ...I agree....when I was in high school, I used to come home everyday and make and EAT (all) a batch of brownies or rice krispie treats...For about 2-3 months....Now I can't stand to even look at either one :o)

Have to agree with dahayz....i no longer eat food for taste, its a matter of what im getting out of the food in the form of nutrition. If i have worked my arse off in the gym the last thing i think of when i get home is whats gonna be tasty for dinner.....its more of a matter of whats gonna give me the right carbs and protein so i dont waste my workout.
This may sound a little obsessive but its all part and parcel of working out so trust me its something you get used to. Anyway.....whats up with chicken 5 times aday :)
mmmmmmm chicken...
