I have been in this position before. I got broken up with because my girlfriend said she liked someone else and she made it seem rather nasty, as if I weren't good enough for her. I got very depressed about it, I don't know if that would be related to what you went through or not. The thing is that school year while I was depressed I did AWFUL in my school work and ended up failing one of my classes for a six weeks. I was ranked 30th out of my class of 700 or so and thank goodness it was my junior year so I didn't fall out of the top ten percent of the class. I started working out in the summer because I knew if I was going to ever get over this "emotional trauma" as well as my work problems I had to do something that I could commit to day in and day out. I had been working out for a few months and eventually I had another girlfriend at the beginning of the school year. That relationship was very short lived but during the break up I wasn't really upset at all, and this year so far I have been pulling straight A's, and due to one of our state laws if you graduate in the top 10% you can automatically get accepted into any college in the state(That's not the hard part of course, the hard part is getting the tuition). I don't know if that would help too much, but for me exercising and working out, and sticking to it helped me maintain a very safe frame of mind.
