As soon as you graduate from High school, continue into college and go into a sports program. Usually one can specialize further into phys ed, kinesiology, sports therapy etc. Personal training has no age barrier, just education, and experience.

Do yourself a favor and immerse yourself in information. The best book I've ever read for general information is "Fitness for Dummies". It also might help for you to experiment on yourself with the different theories of fitness. Try doing a bulk-cycle or a cut-cycle and look at the results. If you can't do these things properly, then how can you expect to instruct someone about them? It also helps if you have a buddy who's willing to do these things with you. I really believe that experience is the best teacher, and when you feel you're ready and fully capable of helping people then it's time.
