I am just curious as to what happends to your body when you workout hard all week and then at the end of the weekend you decide to drink untill you pass out. are these major things to worry about or is drinking harmless for growing muscle. (dont get me wrong i know drinking is not good for you but i am interested in relation to working out :P)

Your body fights to rid itself of the alcohol and forgets about muscle repair (the key to growing muscle)until the alcohol is gone.
It pretty much negates all of your hard work, not to mention the empty calories you are probably taking in.

destroys your testosterone levels, which will impede recovery.
One of the guys who trains with us was a full fledged alcoholic when he started training, took a while to get him to rack pull 225. 14 weeks and no alcohol later, he was pulling 385 from the ground.

Alcohol will also get you dehydrated witch is bad for the recovery.

Ok, now what if you drink in moderation after a week of training. Does that have the same effect, as drinking until you pass out?

Alcohol of any sort will have that effect, it just depends to what degree it happens.
Is it going to keep you from gaining any muscle, probably not, but you won't gain as fast as you could have.

I'm going to have to ask how much you've been drinking, for fear that it has destroyed your ability to perceive things with any level of common sense.

I've been asking myself that very same questions but to my concern it simply is with moderation and most of the time to socialise a little more amongst the others at a chill out party or so where everyone drinks a little. Here in bruxelles, Belgium as you may know of we dipose of about 300 different types of beers and it's at a national "way of life" to drink beer. Is there some alcholo that is simply lighter then an other ? Why do stars get drunk with champagne for example ? is it some sort of "light" or fatfree alcohol ? my coach takes a glass or 2 of red wine every evenning and it doesn't seem to bother his muscle growth. What is the REAL degree of toleration ? Tolerance 0 is a hard way of seeing it i believe.

Stars drink champagne because they think it is "cool".
I don't think that most hard alcohols like vodka, gin, rum, etc. have any fat. You have to watch the mixers though.
What are your goals? If you're looking to become a professional athlete then I'd say a zero degree of tolerance makes total sense. You have to be dedicated. If you're just looking to put on some muscle and pick up heavy things then a few drinks here and there won't keep you from ever gaining any muscle.

It's kind of a linear relationship. If you drink a lot, it will impede you a lot. If you drink a little, it will impede you a little.
There is no "REAL degree of toleration" because what you are asking makes no sense. There isn't some cut-off where 8 drinks is OK, but 9 will make you look like a kiera knightly.
