Hi all - I'm new to site and weight training...loving it so far, with the exception of the lunges! I just can't do them - my knees are shot...any suggestions for an alternate? Any advice would be appreciated....

It depends on what you are targeting. Are you trying to work your hamstrings or quads? Luges target both. For hamstrings you could try leg curls on the machine, and there are several good exercises for quads.

I don't like lunges either, so I do step ups onto somthing tall, doesn't bother my knees one bit.

Thanks! I think I'll try the step ups...last time I did the leg curls, but nothing for the quads. I would like to target both big time (shape and tone, not build up), so if the step ups can target both without further destroying my knees, I'm there... Thanks again to both of you!
