Ok I thought I had posted this a few weeks ago but can't find it now. Had to take a break from my training for a few weeks but am starting up again.

What I want to know is whether it is acceptable to alternate muscle groups, for example doing one set of chest reps followed by one set of shoulders then back to the next set of chest, etc? Or should the time between sets be rest/stretch only? Just trying to see if I can compress the time needed to do my program...

Well alternating between chest and shoulders wouldn't be the very best since you'll always work the same muscle (and the muscle needs rest). But you can work the antagonistic muscles like chest and back for example....
Good luck!

Thanks for the quick reply. That makes sense. Now I need to work out exactly which muscle groups are antagonistic. I presume this would be:

Chest - Back
Shoulders - Lats
Biceps - Triceps
Quads - Hamstrings

So there would be no danger or lowered benefit by alternating like this rather than resting between reps?
