Hello everyone.
Here's my problem: I have a huge taste sensitivity (i know, bad thing to have...i hate being a picky eater)...so i haven't taken my post workout shake in a long time...simply because id nearly vomit everywhere. After my workouts it seems my taste sensitivity was sooo much higher if i had anything that tasted anything but water id blow. (if you know any tasteless ones, also let me know)
so today i thought id try something. I brought along a nestles quick chocolate milk to see if it'd mask the taste of the protein shake mix. Well, after the workout, i poured 8 oz. of the quick in, then one scoop of the protein mix (like it says to do) shook well, and chugged. It was amazing...i loved every second of it, i wanted another...but here's my problem. Am i cheating myself out of the protein? like i know milk slows absorption... :( so did i just screw myself yet again?
If anyone knows any tricks or anything to help me, let me know...im tired of this taste sensitivity and small stomach holding me back.

Milk isn't the best mixer for post w/o shake but if thats the only way you can do it.... We tried a few before finding ones we liked. Most of the venders here sell or give away sample packs. Maybe you can find one near you.

I've never heard about milk itself slowing the absorption of protein. If you're not using non-fat, then the fat in it can slow absorption. Also, casein (makes up 80% of the protein in milk) is a slow absorbing protien; but milk itself doesn't slow absorption. One concern some people have is the extra sugar that milk contains, but since you're using it for a post-workout shake, then there shouldn't be a problem with it.
From personal experience, I've been using milk in my post-workout shake for years, and it has always served me well...

I've tried many protein mixes due to my personal taste preferences.. I found that the only flavor I can tolerate is chocolate. I personally use Designer Whey chocolate, but in a pinch one time, I bought from Wal-mart a mix I think by Carb-Solutions. It was 20g protein with 3 carbs and 2 fat. When you mix it with water, it thickened it like a milk shake. It was actually very tasty to me.. it was cheap too.. only $9 for about 14 servings.
Just a thought, and may be worth the $9 to try.

I learned the milk thing is from BB1.
