hi. I'm new and I have a couple of questions. I have been working out for three weeks now after a year long hiatus with sporadic bouts of excercise every month or so. I do a full body weight training mon-wed-fri with 45-60 minutes of cardio after and tue thu sat i do 60 min of cardio. In addition I try to limit my calories to 1400-1700 a day with a cheat day on Sundays. Am I doing too much too soon? and am I eating enough to sustain weight loss without sacrificing muscle tissue? I keep my workouts interesting and have always enjoyed excercise so im not too worried about boredom or burnout. I have really let myself go and would like to drop 60 pounds in about six months.

if u do that much cardio and u watch ur diet, i think u will reach that goal. but at the same time u might lose some lean muscle tissue. with that much cardio and that little calories, u just might.

But, how tall are u and how much do u weight?
i sure hope ur not 6 feet tall cause u would be eating way too little.

It's good to see someone with a lot of energy like you have. I would increase the calories for sure, otherwise you will be finding yourself really tired.
I would increase the protien intake to about 1 gram per lb of body weight, carbs (good carbs) at about half the amount. The fat content should normally be at not more than 30% of your total caloric intake. In your case wanting to get lean that would be around 35-40grms of fat instead of the full amount. Total calories for the day=2500. You will find by eating more protien, less carbs and fat, your body will shed that unwanted fatty tissue.
As far as doing too much to soon, your body will tell you. I see you do have 1 rest day.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice. I could think of worse things than upping my caloric intake. As for being 6 ft tall I wish!!!!

Your work ethic is good. Your caloric intake may or may not be reasonable, on the one hand calories themselves are important, but even moreso is the type of calories consumed. This can have a very profound effect on all aspects, from your energy level to your fat loss. Calories are not just calories when you have a goal to reach.
