Am I just weak??

I started PT yesterday for a shoulder injury. The main exercises that I'm to do have me laying on my stomach, head down, and extending my arms (side and straight ahead). Using only 3# dumbells I raise my arms above my body line and back down horizontal with my body. 2 sets of 12 and I am toast. I have been working out for years and thought I would be beyone a 3# dumbell. Somebody please try this and tell how well you do.

You're training rotator cuff muscles and they are fairly small so you don't need a lot of resistance to work them...when recovering from an injury you're having to start at a considerably lower level than before....using light weights and high reps is a normal rehabilitation routine/process....

Menace be dead on as usual. Workout and rehab are different animals. After rotator cuff surgery I was amazed at how those 3 and 5lb weights kicked my a$$. I thought I was doomed forever to be a 200lb weakling...kinda like Mutt:big_smile:. Just take it easy and cry your way through it. Also if what your physical therapist says doesn't make sense don't hesitate to ask for another one. Once past 50 I've had occasion to be in physical therapy more than I care to think about. There are therapists and there are therapists. Don't be scared to fire one and switch.

LMAO @ Charlie (kinda like Mutt)!!! Poor puppy, he always gets it when he isn't even involved.

My riding partner just suffered and injury in the same spot and as a result will not be riding the STP.

Question...does the clicking in your shoulder while doing flys or military presses also stem from this? Is that an early warning sign that something is going wrong and will slowly progress into something worse? I get that alot while training my shoulders.
