In my exercise program, it does not have the weight amount to use on a specific exercise. How do I determinded what amount of weight to use. Do I need to maxout and calculate a percentage of that?? NEWCOMER TO THE GROUP...

welcome joliver, try using the search option since this question has been covered dozens of times.

It is impossible for ft to know how much weight that you should use, you will need to figure that on your own with trial and error. Start with a light weight. For instance, when told to perform 12 repetitions (reps), then find a weight where you can only perform 12 maybe 13.. 14 reps maximum.

Arnold is right...trial and error is the only way to determine appropriate weights. One thing I'd like to add would be to make sure your form is correct. At the very beginning, go lighter on the weights and concentrate on good form (i.e. contracting the correct muscle and pausing at the top of the movement).
